Maisie's baptism

Yet another busy weekend - Maisie has a social life at the moment.

It was Maisie's baptism on Sunday and so there were a lot of visitors expected to descend on the house which would mean lots of cuddles for Maisie and we all know that Maisie loves cuddles.

First to arrive on the Friday were Aunty Cat and Uncle Alex hoping to get some extra cuddle time, then Aunty Boo and Jasmine arrived Saturday lunchtime.

This was the first cuddle for Aunty Boo from Maisie and there were plenty of tears shed.

"don't cry Aunty Boo - I'm a big girl now"

Then the hullabaloo started with the arrival of Charlie and Gracie who were extremely excited to see their wee cousin. They were wearing matching t-shirts to remind their Uncle Richard that the Bird is the Word!

"please let me play with my present Gracie"

Charlie was more interested in drawing

And at teatime Grandpa and Grandma Jan arrived with Aunty Rhona. As it was such a beautiful day Daddy fired up the BBQ and the festivities began;

Zach  showed Maisie how to put her sunglasses on

Finally the last visit of the day was a surprise visit from Uncle Carl and Aunty Eleanor. Uncle Carl was up to get his cuddles from Maisie in case he missed out with all the visitors that would be at the house on Sunday.

It was a wonderful start to the weekend.

Sunday was Maisie's baptism at the Old Kirk in St Monans;

Could ask for a better day

It was such a lovely day Maisie decided that instead of being Amazing she'd be Beautiful.

"I'm not sure about this bonnet Daddy"

Mummy made Maisie's Amazing Christening Gown. Mummy is so talented.

Thank you to everyone who shared this special day with Maisie and the family. Maisie had an amazing time - she's never had so many cuddles in one day. Everyone was so kind with their gifts.

Thursday 23 May 2013

A busy weekend was followed by a busy start to the week;

Monday;  Daddy was on form and remembered to take Maisie to the childrens development centre where she had a great time. Maisie was very interested in everything that was happening around her. Once more she proved Daddy wrong and sat on the play mat on her own - clever girl.

Maisie impressed everyone with her ability to sit so well in a chair and play at a table. Maisie's favorite part of the morning was playing with paint;

"now what shall I paint today?"

Maisie created her first masterpieces, could be Fife's next JackVetriano?

soon to have pride of place on the fridge.....

Then it was home to greet more visitors with presents. Mr and Mrs Myles came to visit with a present

Happy Birthday Maisie

As expected it was a busy weekend for Maisie with lots of visitors. It started on Saturday when Alfie, Olivia and Harry came by and dropped off a pile of presents then Nanny T did the same.

Maisie had an Amazing first birthday anniversary with many presents from some very kind people. Maisie's wardrobe has been replenished with lots of pretty outfits and Daddy will have to put up some more shelves in her bedroom for all the books that Maisie received.

Lots of toys were gifted and Mummy was wondering where to store them, we'll need another toy box at this rate. There was also quite a nice cash injection for Maisie's bank account. Thank you to everyone for your gifts to Maisie.

"what's with all the paper, I like toys?"

It was a very happy day having lots of fun with all the visitors that came to see Maisie. It was a mini rehearsal for the big party next week when Maisie gets baptised. Maisie coped extremely well with only a very short afternoon nap.

There was the usual singing of Happy Birthday and although she couldn't be there Aunty Cat joined in on speaker phone. If anyone had seen Aunty Cat singing along in her car they must have thought that she was crazy.

Mummy made a very tasty cake for Maisie which was readily devoured by everyone, well every one apart from Maisie who wasn't that keen on cake - we're sure that she will change the tune soon.

"a very good cake Mummy but not as good as cheesy wotsits!"

It was a very special day that Maisie didn't want to come to an end.

"Don't let my birthday finish Uncle Bill!

Saturday 18 May 2013

Not much going on this week..................but there should have been.

While playing with Maisie the other morning Daddy suddenly realised that he had forgotten to take her to the childrens development centre on Monday morning.

The one chance Daddy and Maisie have to play with other children of Maisie's age and poor old Maisie is denied this chance by her old forgetful Dad (Baby Brain.).  There will be no forgetting this coming Monday!

"having a baby sitter should be more fun than this shouldn't it?"

Zach baby sat for Maisie on Thursday morning as Daddy was down in Edinburgh. It did come to Mummy and Daddy's attention (when they found the above picture ) that Zach may have drafted in some support as he doesn't own a pink tablet - well not that we know of.  Thank you for your help Lucy.

It is going to be a busy weekend for Maisie as there is already a big pile of presents and cards for her to open - the postman has been working very hard over the last few days.

It's hard to believe that Maisie is one year old this weekend. At times this has seemed like a very long year but to think that a year has passed since Amazing Maisie arrived in our lives, time has flown by very quickly.

"look what I've got!

We think Maisie's Amazing while Maisie thinks that it's Cheesy Puffs that are Amazing.

Tuesday 14 May 2013

what a pretty face

Maisie and Megan spent the morning studying, keen to learn new things, following the great example of their big sister Meghan who is in the middle of her highers and is constantly with her head in a book.

Megan; "We might need a little help with this Dad!"

Maisie is getting very good at pulling off her prongs so I thought I'd show you what a pretty face she has without them;

"they're coming off!"

Serious face - "am I in trouble?"

Fun face - "No, because I'm so cute"

"should I put my prongs back in? "

"maybe I could get a little help here please?"

Maisie missed the security of her tubes

It will be wonderful when Maisie can eventually manage without her oxygen.

Monday 13 May 2013

Maisie is really growing well, getting stronger and heavier as she reaches the great milestone of her first birthday anniversary. It is a noticeable growth, Maisie is still quite wee but she is doing very well at catching up.

Although, sometimes you don't always see her growth.

Yesterday Maisie was in her bouncy thing that hangs from the dining room door frame and Daddy thought he'd have a look at a picture of Maisie's first shot of bouncing. Maisie was nowhere near touching the floor and couldn't bounce on her own. Maisie must have grown a lot since then;

This was Maisie at the end of February;

"what am I meant to do now?"

This was Maisie yesterday;

"Yes,  I can feel the floor!"

Daddy thought that there would be a bigger difference, he forgets how wee she is.

Maisie enjoys the bouncing and is very much more interactive playing and holding herself in the swing but hasn't really got closer to the floor - it must be a strong spring. A box and a chopping board helped Maisie with her bouncing.

Maisie today;

...looking forward to her porridge

Friday 10 May 2013

The weather has been very varied this week, one day it was beautiful and Maisie is out for walks with Mummy, then the next day there's strong and cold winds. Not a lot of chance to get out for walks with Megan to enjoy the fresh sea air for Maisie.

Megan the dog is always around Maisie looking after her. If Maisie is crying Megan will let Daddy know and then go back and lie down next to Maisie to make sure that she's safe. If Daddy is too long then Megan will come running through to see what's slowing him down. Megan really pays Maisie a lot of attention and only leaves her side to chase the cats from the garden.

Is Maisie already bored of playing with Megan?

Recently Maisie has been paying more attention to Megan and in the last week or two has started interacting with Megan. Anyone who knows Megan will know that she is always ready to play and chase her ball - hopefully it wont be long before Maisie learns to throw the ball!

Megan is very good with Maisie and also also understands the boundary of what belongs to Maisie and what belongs to her  although she has been know, on occasion, to over step the mark.

"but I'm just trying to look out of the window Dad"

Maisie continues to love her porridge but is still not keen on other foods yet. Carrot doesn't hit the mark, neither do potatoes - we'll have to keep trying.

What has Mummy got to eat?

Greedy Maisie took one for each hand

Unfortunately for Daddy on Thursday Mummy found his secret supply of Cheesy Puffs, and even worse for Daddy they caught Maisie's eye and yes you've guessed it she loves them. Daddy will have to find a better hiding place.

Tuesday 7 May 2013

"I'm bored of this - what's next Daddy?"
As Maisie is getting so much bigger and more active she needs more and more attention to keep her amused and entertained.

Maisie doesn't help Mummy and Daddy with this by not resting during the day - at least Maisie is still sleeping through the night. What will it be like once she starts running around?

Maisie has just cut her first tooth and it's not recommended to let her bite your finger as it's very sharp. Maisie is coping well with teething at the moment and not too crabbit.

Maisie was wee fidget all the way through the service at the Kirk on Sunday morning even with cuddles from Mrs Mathers -and she blew raspberry's throughout the ministers sermon, cheeky girl. Once again Daddy was told how lovely it was the Maisie joined in with the prayers.

Maisie is starting to find her tongue and really enjoys blowing raspberry's. This has of course been actively encouraged by Daddy. It is also very funny to watch Maisie try and grab her tongue with her little fingers - she'll get a shock when she eventually manages to get it.

It was a lovely day on Sunday so Maisie decided to spend some time in the garden catching the sun;

A lazy day sleeping in the garden

Maisie, as expected wasn't at rest for long and soon wanted to get up and disturb Daddy;

"Yes! Daddy's going to take Megan a me out for a walk!"

It was off to the hospital on Sunday evening for the monthly sleep study. As usual there were alarms sounding throughout the night and not a lot of sleeping being done. Maisie's oxygen saturation wasn't quite as good as her last visit so her oxygen flow wasn't turned down again. Her saturation may not be so good due to Maisie being a little under the weather with her teething.

Mummy and Daddy had hoped her oxygen may have been reduced as Maisie seems to be coping a lot better. At least the level stayed the same and wasn't turned up again.

Saturday 4 May 2013

"What is this I'm wearing?"
 More visitors on Tuesday and more clothes, Lucy and Jeanette came to visit. Maisie was happy as she got yet more lovely cuddles.

Maisie also got some much needed trousers which were lovely and summery - Thank you, although Maisie didn't seem so happy with the head bands.

everyone else was amused even if Maisie wasn't

The occupational therapist came to assess Maisie on Wednesday. She was truly amazed with Maisie. Maisie has come on so much in the last four weeks and is getting stronger and stronger. Maisie's  development is going really well and she is doing everything expected from a wee one between the ages of 6-9 months, and a few things for over 9 months.

What are you up to Maisie?

With Maisie getting bigger and stronger she is playing with more interactive toys and is now loving the house with balls that Charlie and Gracie gave her at Easter.

Maisie would have been 8 months old if she'd been born on time so her development is on track. Maisie knows that it going to be her first birthday anniversary very soon and is working hard towards catching up with her true age.

Caught out! Maisie stole the noisy bells rattle from the therapist

There was some great weather on Wednesday so Daddy and Maisie went for a long walk. This weekend looks as though it will also have good weather and Maisie is hoping she can go for more walks and also spend some time out in the garden - which is maybe why, unfortunately for Mummy and Daddy that she decided to awake so early.

Maisie enjoying an early start to the weekend

Daddy and Maisie have a sleep study at the hospital on Sunday night - it would be fantastic if Maisie could have her oxygen turned down again.
